Who would you rather draft to build a NBA team around based on their last college game Player 1 or Player 2?
Player 1 last college games stats winning the NCAA title (playing without the team’s leading scorer):
Field Goals 11-24 with a .458 FG shooting percentage
Free throws: 4-5 with a .800 FT shooting percentage
Rebounds 27 rebounds
Points: 26 points
Results: Team win in NCAA Final Four championship game
Player 2 (playing in a NCAA regional semi-final playoff game)
Field Goals 6-14 with a .429 FG shooting percentage
Free throws: 1-2 with a .500 FT shooting percentage
Rebounds 1 rebounds
Assists: 1 assist
Turnovers: 4 TOs
Points: 13 points
Results: Team loss and elimination in the regional semi-finals
Based on their last college game, who would you draft to build your franchise for immediate change? Player 1? Player 2?

I pick Player 1. IIRC, that 27REB is still the NCAA Finals record. Player 1 was also shooting 52%FG during his college career.

Player 1
This is the championship game, its the big dance…the spotlight is bigger than ever. The performances will be heavily maginified and criticized
All the pressure is on his team, if there was a time where he really needed to prove himself in a big spot against a prime time opponent this is it.
The FG% is not impressive but he makes up for it with 27 rebounds. Rebounding and defense is all about effort/hustle. If he’s willing to do the little things off the ball that doesn’t translate into scoring then the guy has a good mindset. That amount of rebounds today is unheard of, so it means the player is willing to do whatever possible to make his team win….so that means in the long run or when he makes it to the NBA he’s gonna be like a sponge and learn all the post moves so that he can be a complete player (while hiking up his FG% and take better shots in the process)
Player 2
Well stats don’t necessarily show everything…he could be a Bruce Bowen type player who’s guarding the other teams’ best perimeter scorer, we’lll never know unless we saw the video of the game. If defense is his forte then the stats he put up in the offensive side of the ball is a major bonus
You can never judge a player solely on one game
But if I had to choose (just to play along with this question) and pick a player solely on stats , I’d go with Player 1…only because dude stepped up and delivered when it counted WHILE MILLIONS OF EYES ARE ON HIM and the mani scorer missingwhich means he must be a cool customer in crunch time, especially on the defensive end AND IS CAPABLE OF CARRYING THE LOAD on both ends of the court (huge characteristic you look for in a Franchise player)

u can’t base on 1 game but if I had too I would choose player 1

hmm, would you rather have something amazing or something mediocre?
your question seems to guide me to choose player 1 even though a scout would never base his opinion on one game.
let me guess, player 2 is a bigger name than player 1.

A players last game reveals very little about his draft status. You have to look at the whole body of work. One game does not a career make

Player 1 even they don’t have their leading scorer they still will score 18 points,

I wouldn’t be stupid enough to base my draft pick decision on one game.
